Stop Calling Developers "Lazy"

Today I wanted to talk about something I hear kind of often. “Lazy Developers” I understand the sentiment behind the phrase but I think it’s a pretty bad description of the issues and problems in gaming.

People now, will often say the devs are lazy then claim they’re talking about the publishers and higher ups which is not what “devs” refers to. The devs or developers easily refers to the people who are making the game. If you want to point your finger at anyone else then call them what they are.

The whole point of this video is basically to explain why I think that devs are not really lazy. Yeah sure maybe a small percentage actually are, but we shouldn’t generalize when the generalization swings in the wrong direction.

In this case, developers, while they are passionate, are also working a job. There is not much to be gained for a lot of them for working on a game.
It's kind of sad that when the game they’re working on is done, they’re at risk of being out of a job.

In truth, I think it’s an important topic to tackle because of how loud online criticism is. The devs are not lazy and they never have been, they’re rushed by higher ups and forced to cobble together what they can sometimes, to make a game work by the deadline.

It’s a state of the gaming industry we really should not continue towards.

And I hope my sentiment is understood and echoed by you guys.
