Atlus and their Management of the Persona 25th Anniversary Celebration
Hey guys it's Tiller.
This week I wanted to tackle the Persona 25th anniversary celebration.
This has been something I put off mostly out of the virtue that I felt like it was very normal for Atlus to do.
At the same time I feel like Atlus should've announced the Persona Super Live 2022 at the start of this event. As their fanbase grows they stretch into crowds of people who don't keep up with their past habits. While I, and many others understand that ATLUS really likes to announce their games specifically at Persona Super Live, a lot of people, new fans specifically, don't (I mean the last Persona Super Live was in 2019, 3 whole years ago!).
On that note I wanted to make a video that will hopefully help people understand why fans are so indifferent and perhaps maybe one day Atlus will come across this and be able to understand why the reception is so mixed.
I'm someone who fully expected the Persona Super Live to come and be the place where new games are announced. But like I said, I've been closely following this company for about 5 years with a surplus of free time. This surplus has given me time to fully research their marketing schedules and things like that.
Ultimately, it's not up to me to decide how the fanbase feels. Thankfully, the announcement of the Persona Super Live 2022 has been met with more positive reception.
I think the overall management of Persona's 25th Anniversary celebration bothers the international fanbase because it feels like we are secondary. It's fine to announce grand and cool events for Japan but with how the advertising is done, we can look at this with two outlooks. One is that Atlus is clearly telling us not all events will be for everyone. The other is that the communication is poor on the international side. Japan gets exact months that announcements will be relevant to them and we get an ambiguous "? More to come soon..."
Anyways, I hope you enjoy the video. Thanks for watching! If you enjoy it consider leaving a like so more people can enjoy the video too! If you have any thoughts all, please leave a comment below. I do my best to respond to all comments I can in some way. Thank you!
