Exploring MACEDONIA 🇲🇰 THINGS TO SEE (and EAT) in LAKE OHRID!!!

Continuing the journey through Macedonia, we continued to explore the city of Ohrid wile taking in epic views of the lake!

After some coffee in our AirBNB, we decided to walk along the lake for a bit before settling down at a restaurant in the center of town to take shelter from the rain. 3:03

Once the rain stopped, Paige and I continued to shop for some souvenirs for our families before attempting to climb once again to St Samuel’s Fortress. Do not underestimate this climb! 3:40

If you saw the last video, you’ll remember that it was closed when we got there the day before, but today we were in luck as the gate was open! The Macedonian Fortress dates back to the 11th Century, and was restored as recently as 2003. It is well worth the climb and the price of entry (about $4). Climbing to the highest points will give you stunning views of Lake Ohrid and the surrounding areas! 5:00

The sun started to come out once we got to the Fortress, and we decided to return to the apartment to collect Cedric (the drone) and we headed back to St. John’s Monastery (one of Lake Ohrid’s highlights!). Cedric took a few flights over the monastery and got us some epic footage! 5:45

After that, we went back to the AirBNB to get ready for dinner. We decided to eat at Kaneo—the highest rated restaurant in the area, which happened to be a few steps from where we were staying. The wind on the night before was so adverse that we advised not to even try to eat at Kaneo, as the waves were coming over the side of the restaurant. However, the night we were there it was a beautiful night! The food and service were both amazing, and I absolutely recommend eating there! 6:54

Tomorrow we head onward to Skopje, which is the capital of Macedonia!

When we decided to take a month to travel, there were few options for Americans due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. Macedonia was one of those options, and as my research continued, I stumbled upon Lake Ohrid on nearly every list of places to see in Macedonia as a highlight of the country.
