Finland: President Niinisto welcomes Putin in Helsinki ahead of Trump summit

Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived at the Presidential Palace in Helsinki on Monday, ahead of historic summit with US President Donald Trump.

The Russian leader was greeted by Finnish President Sauli Niinisto.

Putin and Trump are expected to discuss a range of international issues and bilateral relations, in particular, the alleged Russian meddling in the 2016 US elections, Syria, Ukraine, NATO and US economic sanctions.

This is the third meeting between Putin and Trump; the leaders’ first meeting was in July 2017 on the sidelines of the G20 summit in Hamburg and in November they met at the APEC summit in Da Nang, Vietnam.
