Russia: 'You need help?' Putin jokingly offers military assistance to Iceland

Russian President Vladimir Putin joked with Icelandic President Gudni Th. Johannesson about whether his country needs any military help, during the International Arctic Forum in Arkhangelsk, Thursday. Iceland is one of 23 countries in the world which doesn't have a standing army.

SOT, Sauli Niinisto, Finnish President (English): "If we are really feeling that there are tensions, what would be a better surrounding than a cool Arctic to solve those tensions. Everybody stays cool. [Officials applauding]."

Vladimir Putin, Russian President (Russian): "Well, that's what 'hot' Finnish men are telling us. We have to follow their advice." [Sauli Niinisto laughing, officials applauding]."

SOT, Gudni Th. Johannesson, Icelandic President (English): "I think it will be hard to find seated next to each other, presidents of countries more dissimilar in size and power: Russia, greatest land mass on earth, Iceland - a small island in the North Atlantic, we don't even have a military, we have a better soccer team, though ..."

Vladimir Putin, Russian President (Russian): "You need help?"
