NOTE: Bernard Etté led one of the most popular dance orchestras in the Weimar Berlin and through the 1930s. His band was more jazz-oriented in the 1920s when Bernard Ette recorded for the Vox company, which favored very much the American jazzy tunes and new trends in the dance music. However in the 1930s, his dance orchestra became one of the most favored by the nazi officials and Bernard Etté polished his arrangements towards the salon-promenade style. Tango “Ilona” (called on label the “blues”…) belongs to Bernard Etté’s recordings from his best period in the late 1920s.
