Tackeroo Junction - Reunion (Entire Live Show)

Tackeroo Junction were a folk group from Cannock & Hednesford, Staffordshire. They played mostly traditional songs, though also included modern songs from popular folk artists alongside several of their own compositions. They were first active c.1983 -1986 before taking a break. They then returned and were active from 1988 until July of 1992. They most frequently played at Hednesford Progressive Working Men’s Club ('The Prog') and then later the Trafalgar Inn in Littleworth. They helped run folk clubs at both where they were resident performers.

The founding members of Tackeroo Junction were Keith Bradbury, Paul Turner and Mick Groves.

They would later be joined intermittently by Bob Hodges and John Carver.

The name of the band is a reference to an area North of Hednesford on Cannock Chase, called Tackeroo. The name's origin is uncertain, one explanation is that it may be a corruption of 'Thackers Row'. Alternatively, it may have come from the soldiers of New Zealand who encamped in the area of Brocton during World War One, being an evolution of the Maori word 'Tackarewa'. The former is most likely since the original Tackeroo cottages ('Thacker’s Row') almost certainly predated the Military camps of 1915. It is believed they were built in the mid to late 19th Century to accommodate coalminers working at West Cannock No 5 Pit.

Notes:
The final encore was sadly never recorded.

The date of the recording is uncertain but almost certainly between 1985-1986.

The location of the performance is thought to be the Hednesford Progressive Working Men’s Club ('The Prog').

The photograph used for the video was not taken at time of recording, it is used because it is the only photo that was discovered to show all five group members playing together.
From left to right the members are:
John Carver - Bass
Keith Bradbury - Banjo
Mick Groves - Guitar
