How To Reinvent Public Speaking | George Andriopoulos | TEDxDerryLondonderry
A satirical look at the world of public speaking through the eyes of TEDx organizer and multi-time TEDx speaker, George Andriopoulos. George hypothesizes that the problem with public speaking is that a large amount of stages provide a platform for speakers to sell, which creates a precedent for the wrong kind of impact. Enter TEDx, a platform for spreading ideas with the caveat that the speakers MUST follow the “TED Commandments.” No selling. No political agenda. No religious agenda. No bad science. Can the TED Commandments be the answer that will save the future of public speaking? Explore this idea of hopeful change as we journey through the dichotomy of “the power of the voice” versus “the power of the stage.” George Andriopoulos is the award-winning founder and CEO of Launchpad Five One Six, a New York based management consulting firm providing organizations with the tools and resources to innovate and thrive. George is veteran of the stage as a keynote, motivational, and soon to be three-time TEDx speaker delivering talks that spark inspiration and change. George also owns a digital marketing agency, is the host of “The Launchcast,” a top rated podcast about leadership, and has recently begun providing leadership coaching services through The Leadership Experience, his company’s leadership coaching division.
George also provides public speaking/writing coaching as a guest coach on other programs. He is the executive producer of TEDxFarmingdale and he co-produced TEDxDeerParkWomen in 2020. A co-founder of the non-profit Shannon’s Fight that provides financial aid to families in medical crisis, George also volunteers with the speaker’s bureau at Ronald McDonald House Charities. George’s first book, “Once Upon a TEDx,” will be released in 2021, fresh off of his win as 2020 Business Executive of the Year from IAOTP. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
