“Actor” is composed, written and performed by the Chinese songwriter and singer Xue Zhiqian. This is his most popular song to date and it took the crown of Global Chinese Music Top 10 in 2015. The protagonists of the song are a couple who used to be in love, but the girl grew tired of the relationship as time went on. The lyrics specifically depict the scene where the girl proposed a breakup while putting up an act of pretending she did it reluctantly. Although the guy could immediately see through it, he nevertheless decided to play along and act as if he no longer cares for her , in order to help her feel better about leaving.
