A Generation at War

On Tuesday, September 25, 2018, New York Times journalist C.J. Chivers, a Marine Corps infantry veteran, discussed the challenges facing the nation’s military and veterans community two decades into the global war on terror. He was joined by Purple Heart recipient Senator Tammy Duckworth, Democrat of Illinois, who was among the first women in the Army to fly combat missions during Operation Iraqi Freedom and Bonnie Carroll, retired Air Force Reserve officer, who served in the Reagan and Bush White Houses and founded the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors. Subscribers heard firsthand about the prospects for a diverse and multi-generational veteran community from former service members, policymakers and the journalists who have observed them. The conversation was moderated by Pulitzer Prize-winning Times correspondent Eric Schmitt. For information about our wide range of subscriber events, visit timesevents.nytimes.com.
