Basement Stairs - The Hand Rail
After the stairs and treads were replaced on our basement stairs, I added the newel post, balusters and hand rail. This was required in order to meet building code and pass occupancy inspection, so we could officially move in. The balusters need to not allow a 4" sphere to pass through it. The hand rail needs to be between 34" and 38" high measured at the nose of the stair.
Make sure to space the balusters evenly! Divide the run by 4!, not 3!
Come for the DIY info; stay for the cute kids ;)
