Fixing A Vehicle That Turns Off For No Reason

A vehicle may turn off unexpectedly for many reasons. (No fuel delivery, injectors, spark, etc.) However, one area often overlooked is the battery connection. Specifically, the negative and positive battery terminals. Through wear, tear and throughout the years, one battery cable, or both, may begin to lose it's grip with the battery terminal. A loose battery terminal is very dangerous. It can suddenly cause your vehicle to turn off without warning. If you're having a similar issue, check the battery terminals for a secure connection. If you have a loose connection, install a battery post shim. This specific vehicle is a '97 Nissan Maxima.

Note, many of these battery post shims include lead. Wear gloves and protect your skin.
