Finishing Secrets: Wax Tinting and Rags for Mice

Here is how I tint paste wax to darken it. I only use Butcher's Wax. It is the only brand. I have tried many others with inferior results. I believe it is for sale on Amazon, and you can get a slightly better deal if you buy a case directly from the manufacturer. The dry pigment I believe I got at Michael's, and it is of a cheaper variety. However, if you can find a more expensive artist-grade dry pigment, it's usually worth it to get the best quality for the best mixing. There are many colors to choose from if you want to achieve special finishing effects with waxes. I always use Raw Umber for a neutral brown shade. AND... never buy a box of rags without opening it first. and of course...
