Meet Daniel - World Sight Day 2021

October 14 is World Sight Day, an international day of awareness for eye health. 👁️👁️

This year’s World Sight Day theme is #LoveYourEyes, and this means being aware of your eye health, accessing support when needed and recommending others do the same.

We spoke to Daniel, who has been a Guide Dogs Client since he was 13 years old, about the importance of seeking support if you notice a change in vision:

“Something I come across a lot when I meet people with low vision or blindness is that they prolong or put off seeking help or services for so long.”

“I had a degenerative eye condition myself and felt a sense of isolation - because you don't know anyone else living it, or feeling it, or experiencing it.”

“Once I realised that I had a vision condition and I did need support, getting that support was as easy as picking up the phone and making a call to Guide Dogs.”
