Today we honor the ancient rites of the Fratres Arvales, one of the oldest priesthoods of Ancient Rome.

While many people associate Rome with gladiators and war, Roman life was deeply connected to agriculture, fertility, and the gods of the land. During these rituals, the Fratres Arvales offered sacrifices, wine, grain, and prayers to ensure healthy fields and a good harvest for the people of Rome.

The ceremonies took place in May and were dedicated to the protection of the crops and the prosperity of the Roman world. Rome did not live by the sword alone. It lived from the earth.

For this video, I wanted to recreate a calmer and more spiritual side of Roman culture with a simple white tunic, bread, wine, laurel, and offerings to the gods.
