Touring Ireland in a campervan - Ards Peninsula

In this vlog we head south of Belfast to the Ards Peninsula. We spend an evening parked up at Millisle. Whilst we were parked up two ladies stopped to say hi. Barbara and Mayline invited us back to their house the following morning for breakfast.

The gave us a great breakfast and we sampled local breads. Mayline was staying as part of the organisation Work Away and was on a holiday in Ireland from Paris.

Barbara, her husband Kevin & Mayline took us down to the harbour at Donaghadee. We met a fabulous group of people called the Chunky Dunkers, who brace the cold sea for a swim 365 days of the year!. Marianne put her self forward to swim with them the following day - will she do it ??? Watch the next episode to find out

Kevin then took us to Grace Neils Pub in Donaghadee - apparently the oldest pub in Ireland 1611. He bought us all a pint of Guinness to welcome us to Ireland and to officially break our Guinness virginity !

We then went back to their house for supper - thank you guys for your kindness we had such a great day

We’re Marianne & Chris, a happily married couple from the UK. Marianne is a living kidney donor to her best friend, and realising that life was for living and never really knowing what’s round the corner - we decided to fulfil our dream of travelling full time.

So in March 2018 after the kids had left home, we sold our belongings, rented our house and moved into our campervan called Trudy. We set off to see the world and after vanlifing around Ireland and Europe, we grabbed our backpacks and spent 5 months exploring Central America.

Feeling like we needed a challenge, we planned the ultimate van life adventure! In Jan 2020 set off to drive around the World from UK to UK. But after arriving in Turkey, covid caught up with us and closed the borders, so we had a wonderful 18 months exploring this special country. Realising we were not going to be able to head further East, we decided to do a handbrake turn and go the other way and shipped our van to the USA.
