(20 May 1999) +++CLIENTS PLEASE NOTE THIS STORY CONTAINS IMAGES OF DEAD BODIES+++
Albanian/Nat
The K-L-A claimed on Thursday that it had killed a Russian captain during fighting in Kosovo.
The Kosovo Liberation Army has produced what it claims are Russian documents it says it found on the body.
Here within the headquarters of the 138th K-L-A Brigade, Commander Naim Maloko claims to have killed a Russian Special Unit Rescue Officer during a fire fight with a Serbian patrol on Wednesday night.
According to the K-L-A these are the official Russian documents found on the body.
"Rescue Officer" was clearly marked on one of the papers.
However, there has been no independent verfication of the K-L-A claim or the identity of the body.
The Koshare region is a stretch of land along the Albanian border with Kosovo, controlled by the K-L-A.
The area is about 15 kilometres long and 8 kilometres deep.
The K-L-A recaptured it from Serbian forces a month and ten days ago.
The K-L-A claims the killing brings into question Russia's involvement in the two month old Balkan war.
Moscow has constantly denied lending any support to President Milosevic's military machine.
However, the K-L-A alleges Russia has been aiding Serbia's forces.
SOUNDBITE: (Albanian)
"We have good arguments and clear documents to prove what the K-L-A already knew a year ago that the Russian army is already implicated in the ethnic cleansing of Kosovo and the war against the Albanian civilian population."
SUPER CAPTION: Naim Maloko, 138th KLA Brigade Commander
Within the last two days the K-L-A claimed to have pushed back Serbian forces two kilometres.
