LG CordZero A9 - What We Love

What's so great about the LG CordZero A9 cordless stick vacuum? We test it on carpet, hard floors, and hair. We also compare pickup to the Dyson V11. See it on Amazon: https://amzn.to/3potvMZ

We show what comes with your LG CordZero A9 Kompressor vacuum – walking through everything in the box. The vacuum includes two batteries that can easily be swapped out and we describe how this works while discussing run times (battery life) in medium power mode.

We like that both batteries can be charged simultaneously. One battery can be fit into the stand where it will charge. The other battery can be charged while it is attached to the vacuum and the vacuum is placed in the stand.

We were pleased to see that LG provided both a stand and a wall mount. Not everyone can drill holes in their walls (we cannot) and therefore the stand is a great option. It is solid and heavy so it will not tip and it is easy to put together. It’s also handy that the stand is designed to hold a few of the tools that come with the machine.

This is the only cordless stick vacuum we have that has an extendable/collapsible wand. We show that there are three length settings and how this can be useful depending on your height.

Like many stick vacs today, the LG CordZero is both a stick vacuum and a handheld vacuum. The wand and cleaner head can be removed from this machine leaving you with a lightweight handheld unit. Tools can be attached directly to the end of the handheld or on the end of the wand for extra reach.

We weighed the LG along with the Dyson V11 and the Tineco S12 and found that the LG is the lightest of the bunch. It is also the most compact given its ability to collapse the wand.
The brushroll on this vacuum is designed for both carpet and bare floors. It has rows of stiff bristles and rows of softer bristles.

One of the tools provided with the vacuum is called the Power Punch Nozzle. It is a strange tool and does not have a brushroll but rather a solid vibrating rectangular block of plastic. It is designed to clean bedding and in our tests it worked, picking up fine gray dust/material.

The unit has good quality air filtration. It has both a sealed system and a HEPA level filter. All filters on the vacuum can be rinsed in water and re-used. LG also highlight that this vacuum has been awarded the Seal of Approval from the British Allergy Foundation.

We looked at the Kompressor technology and found that it worked in some instances and not in others. It doesn’t work well on some hair or hard debris but it was effective on some other debris. It is a very simple idea (not sure if it should really be termed a “technology”) and it can be useful.

Our cleaning tests on carpet showed very good pickup and it was on-par with the Dyson V11. On bare floors (tile in our case) the LG outperformed the Dyson V11 (with the High Torque cleaner head).

In our hair tangle test we were pleased to see that the LG did not gather too much hair. It does not perform as well as a specialized brushroll (like some of Shark’s Zero-M units) but it also doesn’t gather lots of hair (like the Dyson V7 motorhead).
