LG CordZero A9 - What We Dislike

We show that you cannot store all of the tools in the stand. The power punch nozzle has no storage space on the stand so it must be kept in the closet or cupboard.

The battery life in Turbo power mode is rather short at about 7 min 20 sec – we timed it. Fortunately the unit has two batteries, but still you will get under 15 minutes of run time with both batteries in Turbo power mode. Also, for some reason, to get into Turbo power mode you must hold the “+” button down for 3 seconds. It is kind of a pain and presumably is there to act as something of a barrier to using this option frequently.

In Turbo power mode the vacuum is a little on the loud side. We compared the noise level (measured with a digital noise level meter) to that of three other cordless stick vacs – the Tineco S12, the Dyson V11, and the Shark Rocket. The Shark Rocket was the loudest in max power but the LG was a close second. The quietest unit was the Tineco.

We rarely run the vacuum in low power mode as we find the suction power insufficient. When you read marketing materials about the vacuum you read about the 80 minute run time. In our tests this was indeed true but only in low power mode – which we rarely use. We much prefer medium power mode but this will only give you about 45 minutes of run time (with two batteries).

The dust canister on the LG CordZero is small. Granted that it has the Kompressor Technology which sometimes helps in creating more space for debris inside the canister, but we still found ourselves emptying it frequently. Inside the dust canister there is also a cyclonic mesh filter which takes up a lot of space.

We find that the vacuum has a tendency to skate over our low pile carpet. It doesn’t seem to get positive traction like the Dyson cordless machines do. It almost feels slippery and it is hard to turn it sharply.
