BLADES & BRAID Staying Safe On The Water

Hey everyone! Today I run some knifes and machetes through a test scenario I once had to deal with. Sometimes when accidents happen they happen fast! While fishing Plum Gut sometime around 2002 my vessel was dragged around and the transom was pulled under. I was lucky it didn't throw me from the boat. What happened next was quick thinking. Cut myself free. As I trimmed up the motor the boat goes under farther. It appeared to be a lobster pot but it had me. As I hung on the back of the motor a few swipes of my machete made quick work of the polypropylene line. Stunned and shaken I next make sure the bilge is working. With a foot and a half of water rolling around I'm at the mercy of my pump not moving around and the next boat wake. Luckily that all worked out. But if I didn't have my blade it would have been a different outcome. I also show how a wooden dowel or handle will help with breaking off braided fishing line and not cut your hand. I'm sorry if this video is a little rough but I'm trying. Hope you enjoy and carry a sharp knife!!!
