Hurricane Boat Prep

As a marina mechanic and licensed captain I get lots of questions on what do I do when a hurricane is coming? The answer is get your boat done now and get ready before it's to late.  And by to late I mean in seas that will over come you. Right now Hurricane Dorian has just passed Grand Bahama and is on its way up to us making this a good opportunity to go over some things.  I will brake this series down since there is a lot to talk about. These are a few points I will go over. I will also take your questions. Please remember I am an outboard mechanic. I have worked on some bigger boats but I'm an not a yacht or sailboat expert. I will leave that to those in that field.
1. What do I do with my boat?
-Why you should haul your boat.
               -Battery life, bilge pumps, ropes
     -Trailering
2. Drain plug in or out?
     -Is your boat self bailing?
3. What you should do to your boat?
     -Winterize but why?
-What you will find if you go out.
     -Fill fuel tank?
     -Covers, canvas and loose debri
4. Safety and my boat.
-Why and how your boat can save your life

Watching these videos will definitely help you and may save yours or someone else's life. So please if you boat or sail watch these and let me know what you think.
