Hi everyone. It's Evangeline here at etrailer, and today we have the Kuat NV 2.0 two-bike platform rack. We're gonna take a look at how it fits here on our 2023 Kia Seltos. The Kuat NV is super popular because it's pretty, it's sleek, it's practical, and this is also available in different color options so that you can find the one that best fits your car. As for how it fits on the Seltos, solid choice. You still have a really good tilting angle here on this rack.

So if you can see here, you pull this lever and that drops this bike rack down to a tilt and then you can open up the hatch. So it's just features like that that makes this a very helpful bike rack for carrying around your bikes of different shapes and sizes. Now the tilt-away function is very smooth. The one downside is that the lever is all the way over here. So if you do need to carry around two bikes, you are reaching around that bike in order to get to the lever.

Now what types of bikes can this carry This can carry most types of bikes because it's a front wheel mount rack, meaning there's zero frame contact. You also have a weight capacity of up to 60 pounds per bike plus an up to 50-inch wheel base for those bikes. Now in order to take the bike off, you start over at the rear wheel strap by pressing that lever and lifting that strap up and out the way. This slides back and forth along the rack for those different wheel bases. The next step is this front wheel mount.

I like to hold onto the bike with one hand as I press on this wheel mount with the other. Push it out of the way and now I can grab the bike and go. On the Seltos, because of where the hitch is, that height isn't that bad for taking the bike off, so that's gonna be good for your heavier electric bikes. Now here on the tray itself, you can see that also has different grooves on those cradles for those different tire widths. Maximum tire width with this rack is gonna be up to five inches.

You also have your thin grooves for those smaller road bike tires. The arms fold back in like that, and I do recommend putting away those straps when possible. It's just so that they're not flopping around as you drive around. This also takes up less space when you're on the road. So speaking of space, let's talk some measurements. So first we're gonna measure for the length this adds to the back of your Seltos. I like to measure from that furthest point of the bumper to the end of the rack. I have it at 31 inches. The Seltos is already a smaller vehicle. So good thing this doesn't take up that much room, but definitely something to remember when you're backing into your garage or parking into a tight spot. The next measurement is gonna be ground clearance. End of the rack to the ground, that's gonna be 17 and a half inches. But if you measure for where the bikes go to the ground, that's about 16 and a half inches. So that's a measurement to remember for those heavier electric bikes. You would make sure that you're able to lift them up and onto the rack. You're able to sort of ramp them up, which helps. But if you are maxed out and just really can't lift that bike, then you can also purchase the NV access ramp sold separately, but available here at etrailer. Another thing you can do to take up less space is fold it up against the vehicle. So notice here where we measured earlier to the end of the rack is now 13 inches of distance. So good difference compared to when this was folded down. Something to remember here is that you will not be able to open up your hatch with it folded up like this, but it's a very easy step and drop in order to bring this down. Plus, in this position, you have access to the bike repair stand included with your Kuat NV, which is pretty helpful in those situations when you need to make some repairs to your bike. Folded up, you can see how sleek this looks against our car. We are not covering much. So our rear window is visible, our taillights are visible. Our license plate as well as our backup camera is visible too, so that's gonna be very helpful. The only thing you're gonna lose out on is opening up the hatch door when this bike rack is loaded onto your vehicle. So all in all, the Kuat NV is a very solid but also premium looking rack.
