Duke's Giant Plant #shorts
Meet Jorge Fidhel Gonazalez, Duke University’s green house supervisor, as he describes the phenomenon of Duke's agave plant. This plant has been growing for about 11 years and recently bloomed to showcase a 12-foot inflorescence. This sort of blooming rarely happens because it takes almost 15 years on average for an agave plant to bloom. When it does, the plant doesn’t last long. After all flowers have bloomed, that symbolizes the end of its life and the agave plant dies.
