Making Music Up in Lights - Jazz Police by The Fabulosos Big Band
The Making Music Up in Lights project aims to showcase the brilliant variety of music our 3,500 member groups have continued making across the UK, even in the face of a pandemic. Formed of 190,000 hobby musicians, our groups perform diverse genres and styles of music at all levels of experience – each music maker’s unique background contributes to the rich tapestry of the leisure-time music sector.
Our second spotlight falls on The Fabulosos Big Band from Surrey, who get us in the groove with a truly funky presentation of Leonard Cohen and Jeff Fisher's iconic 'Jazz Police'!
Watch their instrumental arrangement above (complete with wonderful brass, rhythm and percussion!) and let us know how it gets your foot tapping in the comments section below – if they jazz up your day a little, hit the Like button and subscribe to our channel so you don’t miss the next instalment!

About The Fabulosos Big Band:
The Fabulosos Big Band was formed by Simon Phipps in 2014 to encourage retired people to play big band music. Players’ ages range from fifties to nineties with a mix of abilities including ex-professionals and others taking up music in later life.
We use a traditional big band band setup plus our glamorous singers. We play a combination of swing, dance, show, jazz, blues and anything else we like. Many of our arrangements are unique, based on popular tunes. We are based in Byfleet, Surrey.
We have used online projects to keep the band together and practising during lockdown. Music and video is recorded on mobiles phones, sent by email to Fabulosos Headquarters then mixed and produced (by Simon) using freeware.
