Making Music Up in Lights - Hallelujah Chorus by Cappella Caeciliana
The Making Music Up in Lights project aims to showcase the brilliant variety of music our 3,500 member groups have continued making across the UK, even in the face of a pandemic. Formed of 190,000 hobby musicians, our groups perform diverse genres and styles of music at all levels of experience – each music maker’s unique background contributes to the rich tapestry of the leisure-time music sector.
Our fourth spotlight falls on Cappella Caeciliana from Northern Ireland, who present a rousing performance of Baroque composer Handel's ‘Hallelujah’ chorus – set against a truly stunning countryside backdrop!
Watch their vocal arrangement above and let us know what kind of feeling it evokes in the comments section below – if they brighten your day a little, hit the Like button and subscribe to our channel so you don’t miss the next instalment!

About Cappella Caeciliana:
Cappella Caeciliana was founded on St Cecilia’s Day in 1995 and – under Musical Director Donal McCrisken – has sung at concerts and religious services all over Northern Ireland, as well as in Scotland, Switzerland, Italy, Germany, Austria and the USA.
On their American tour in 2011, they sang Choral Evensong at the National Cathedral in Washington DC and gave concerts to great acclaim in Philadelphia. The group has performed works by Handel and Fauré with the Ulster Orchestra, Bach Cantatas in Dublin with the Orchestra of St Cecilia, and works by Vivaldi, Pergolesi and Mozart with orchestral forces in Belfast. Their repertoire stretches from plainchant; great polyphonic works by Byrd, Victoria and Palestrina; music by Haydn, Mozart, Fauré, Duruflé; and others up to the present day.
The choir has performed with many of the big names in choral and orchestral music, including Sir James MacMillan, Eamonn Dougan, Stephen Layton and Thierry Fischer.
