In today's episode, I faced a very bloodthirsty opponent. I once again had the white pieces and I, once again, went for the English Opening. My opponent, instead of following basic OPENING PRINCIPLES like "DEVELOP YOUR PIECES", "CASTLE THE KING TO SAFETY", "DON'T BRING OUT THE QUEEN TOO EARLY" etc, decided to go for checkmate in the most amateurish way possible, that's right, they went for SCHOLAR'S MATE and once I easily defended against that, they had a serious lag in development as the Queen was then taking away the f6 square from the Knight. After the botched quick checkmating plan failed my opponent, due to frustration or consuming too many MIKHAIL TAL videos on GOTHAM CHESS and AGADMATOR'S CHESS CHANNEL, decided to start sacrificing pieces unjustly. The attempt did create some minor practical difficulties but it wasn't anything too difficult to refute.
