In today’s fast-paced and hyperconnected world, the struggles of the mind often remain unseen, hidden behind smiles and silent endurance. Despite living in an age of constant connection, emotional isolation continues to grow, especially among the youth who stand at the crossroads of expectation and identity. At the intersection of law, society, and youth, this issue becomes more than personal it becomes structural. Societal pressures, academic competition, and the culture of digital comparison intensify mental health challenges, while existing legal frameworks and institutional responses often fail to fully acknowledge or protect young minds. This theme questions whether laws and policies are truly equipped to safeguard mental well-being, or if they overlook the silent suffering of a generation. It calls upon society to shift from judgment to empathy, and upon legal systems to move from passive recognition to active protection. In this space where law shapes rights, society shapes perceptions and youth shape the future, mental health must be recognized not as a private struggle but as a collective responsibility that demands awareness, reform and meaningful action Dr. Era S. Dutta is a Kolkata-based consultant neuropsychiatrist, therapist, and mental health advocate with over 17 years of experience. She is known for her holistic approach in treating anxiety, depression, and OCD. She has also conducted India’s first study on “Selfie Addiction,” highlighting the psychological impact of digital behaviour. Her work bridges clinical expertise with contemporary societal issues.
