Baptism as Beginning (Matthew 3:13-17)
When Jesus comes for baptism, John the Baptist tries to stop him. Even though John is God's prophet, he still tries to get in the way of God's plans. A reminder to be very careful when we think we know what God wants.
When Jesus is baptized, God names him as the beloved son, and this event seems to propel Jesus into his ministry. Jesus' baptism is the start of something. Ours should be, too.
