Of Snakes and Imperatives (Luke 3:7-18)

In Luke, John the Baptist is quite harsh with the crowds that come out, calling them snakes and demanding change from them. The people respond, not by fleeing John, but by asking "What then should we do?" And John gives them plenty. Perhaps the Church needs to speak similarly with "Do this" imperatives, especially following the Sandy Hook Elementary tragedy.
