Undertale: The Story of Toby Fox
Undertale is not a game that needs much introduction. One of the biggest surprise hits of 2015, this small indie game, made primarily by sole developer Toby Fox, has become one of recent history's most impactful games.
It's interesting, then, to see just how nervous Toby Fox was about his game's development. He started out making a small game for fun, but when his Kickstarter received far more funding than he could ever have hoped for, his life was instantly changed forever.
That said, it's nice to hear a story of a Kickstarted game that genuinely delivers on its initial promise. Part of what made Undertale such a success is its unique gameplay mechanic which emphasizes nonviolence, instead of the standard RPG practice of killing any monster that comes near you.
This video was meant to be our Valentine's Day offering, but life kind of got in the way and it ended up being delayed by three weeks. Sorry about that, here's hoping it's still at least a little relevant now. Love never goes out of fashion.
Thank you all for your wonderful comments. Here's hoping this video brings you a little drop of inspiration, and the encouragement you need to keep going. Just as Toby Fox's efforts led to the creation of Undertale, if you keep working hard, you'll find success in your sphere of influence as well. That's a promise.
