MCM comic con has established itself as the country’s biggest and most well attended popular culture event. It covers an extremely large range of modern culture interests.

The show really has something for everyone. Major T.V and film star regularly appear, for autographs and panels. Attendees get the chance to play the latest video releases and board games.

There are halls full of traders offering huge amounts of fantastic merchandise. These include independent artists offering there latest works as well as stands offering all sorts of pop culture collectibles.
Part of this event is the “Steampunk Emporium”. This is an multi- faceted area that has become a firm favourite with comic con attendees.

With multiple talks, workshops, displays and interactive events on the Steampunk stage ( “Tea duelling” being one of the post popular), drawing big crowds throughout the day. There are also small independent stands offering steampunk items to the public. One of the main features of the Emporium is the art display. This has now become a focal point of comic con for many people. They regularly visit the area to see the truly unique work on show of a group of steampunk “makers”.

As one of the makers it is a great privilege to get to show my work to so many people. Most of the makers make as a hobby, so it a fantastic opportunity to display their creations. The positive response given by almost all the public makes it a truly great experience.

The Steampunk Emporium is now a “ must visit” area for many convention attendees. The Steampunk ethnic of re-using and re-purposing old equipment and devices to produce vatpriations of popular culture icons ( like Steam Wars and Steam world) seems to have struck a cord with lots of people, with interest in the Steampunk Emporium area seeming to grow every event.
