E 100 - If it Weren't For the Replays, These Battles Would Be Hard to Believe #6

The E-100 was to have frontal armor and turret armor of 200 mm, side armor and rear armor of up to 180 mm. According to the requirements, the tank's weight was to be between 150 and 200 tons, and it was to carry a 120-150 mm main gun, but the Henschel designers planned a weight of 100-120 tons and a 150 mm main gun. To save time on the first copies of the tank, it was decided to install a turret for a 128-mm cannon with a 75-mm cannon, already developed by the Krupp concern for the Maus tank. The suspension system for the tank was developed by designer Lehr from MAN. The suspension rollers had to be staggered on both sides of the track ridges lined up in one row. A similar scheme was used on almost all heavy tanks of the Third Reich. The E-100 had a classic layout: the tank's control compartment was located in front, the combat compartment was in the middle, and the engine and transmission compartment was in the back.
