Hetzer (German: Hetzer - instigator, greyhound) or Jagdpanzer 38 - German light self-propelled gun (SAG) class tank destroyers. Used during the Second World War.
Was developed by the Czechoslovak company BMM on the chassis of the light tank PzKpfw 38(t) in November 1943 - January 1944 as a cheaper and mass replacement for the StuG III assault guns. Later, it was reclassified as a tank destroyer, primarily intended for anti-tank units in infantry and cavalry divisions.
The production of the Hetzer began in April 1944, and at least 2,828 of this type of self-propelled gun were produced before the end of the war.
