You're watching Richard Niles conducting the award-winning BBC Big Band with his BANDZILLA arrangement of Tom Waits' "This One’s From the Heart", from the Francis Ford Coppola movie One From the Heart. This performance features the dynamic vocals of PAT KANE of Scottish hitmakers HUE & CRY. Soloist LAURENCE COTTLE is a virtuoso electric bass player of the highest order. He is also a brilliant writer and leads the acclaimed Laurence Cottle Big Band.

Niles and Kane started working together when Niles arranged an early HUE & CRY single (“I Refuse”) and later produced and arranged their album “Showtime”. Richard and Pat’s shared love for jazz created a project treating some of their favorite songs to Niles’ distinctive arrangements. They performed the project with BANDZILLA at London’s Jazz Café, The Taplow Court Festival, and here at the Falkirk Jazz Festival in in 2002, broadcast for BBC Radio 2.
