‘Fear works’ in a COVID election
The Queensland election result “proves that fear works” as the Palaszczuk government ran on the single theme of borders and won comfortably, according to former NSW treasurer Michael Costa.
“They ran a campaign that had a single theme and that was keep those other people out of our state and we’ll all be safe and it was very effective,” Mr Costa told Sky News host Andrew Bolt.
Queensland Labor Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk claimed a Labor victory on Saturday night, promising supporters across the state a “strong recovery plan”.
The ALP is expected to pick up a few marginally-held LNP seats, whilst the minor parties had vastly different degrees of success.
“It was incumbent on the opposition to run a counter narrative which they failed miserably to do,” Mr Costa said.
