Why Dutch Men Fought for Germany at the Eastern Front of World War II
Why did Dutch men join the Germans in their invasion of the Soviet Union? Who were these Dutch collaborators in the Second World War in the Netherlands? Who were the Dutch volunteers for Germany in WWII? Why were there 25,000 Dutch volunteers for the Dutch Waffen-SS Legion? In this video I will explain why these man joined the ranks of Hitler's elite guard to fight on the Eastern Front of WW2. After the German invasion of the Netherlands, the Germans started to recruit Dutch men for their service. There were several units created among which the Westland Regiment that was part of the Viking Division (Wiking) that fought at the Eastern Front. This is the first installment of a series about SS volunteers from the Netherlands in WWII.
