‘Wheels are coming off the Albo bus’: Peta Credlin blasts Labor government

Sky News host Peta Credlin says the “wheels are coming off the Albo bus” because of the Labor government’s “new protectionism” in its Future Made in Australia policy.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has committed $33.5 million towards planning works to support the development of Westport in Western Australia.

A further $566 million has been pledged for deposits of critical minerals and rare earths for renewable energy technologies.

Treasurer Jim Chalmers will hand down the budget on Tuesday, May 14.

“Next week's budget will showcase the government's 'Future Made in Australia' programme, based on Labor's view that government ministers and government officials understand markets better than business,” Ms Credlin said.

“Everyone wants Australia to be able to make things, but the best way to promote this is to remove all the existing obstacles to efficiency, like our artificially high power prices – thanks to the government's emissions obsession; too much regulation, too much union power – thanks to the government's indebtedness to the green left.

“Instead, the Albanese government's new protectionism has been directed at a series of unproven technologies like green hydrogen, or industries like solar panels where we've been proven to be uncompetitive.

“Honestly, I think the wheels are coming off the Albo bus, and fast.”
