Andhra Pradesh is witnessing a massive industrial boom! In a major boost to the state's economy, global giant JSW Steel Limited is setting up a state-of-the-art iron ore beneficiation plant at Konijedu-Marlapadu in Prakasam district. The company is injecting a whopping ₹1,230 Crores into this mega project.

The upcoming plant will process 5 million tonnes of crude iron ore annually, utilizing mines leased under the AP Mineral Development Corporation (APMDC) for a span of 15 years. As part of the agreement, a 11% share has been proposed for APMDC. JSW Steel will entirely fund the capital and operational expenses, with ₹143.40 Crores allocated for building construction and ₹914.80 Crores for plant and machinery.

The construction timeline is fast-tracked: civil works are scheduled to begin in August 2026 and finish by April 2027, with full commercial production aimed for December 2027. Notably, this is in addition to JSW’s steel plant in the YSR Kadapa district, where construction begins this month. This Prakasam project will create direct employment for 155 people and generate extensive indirect jobs in logistics, raw material transport, and allied sectors.
