Journey keyboardist Jonathan Cain offered his 80s ballad Open Arms to his 1st band the Babys with lead singer John Waite. Waite Hated the song and thought it was too cheesy so he rejected it. Years later when Cain joined Journey, Steve Perry wanted to sing a ballad and he showed him Open Arms and Steve loved it. Even though guitarist Neal Schon HATED it, the band recorded it and it became their biggest hit of all time.
