Ewan Massie World's Strongest Man under 90kg, lifts the 733 lbs Dinnie Stones in Scotland Aug 2019
Fraserburgh's Ewan Massie, who became the world's strongest man under 90kg at Joensuu, Finland in 2018, successfully lifting the Dinnie Stones during the Donald Dinnie Games, The Gathering III, in August 2019. The other competitors taking part during these attempts were David Bagnall from Belfast, Alad Zachary from North Wales (Successful lift), Kevin Jamieson from Sacramento, California, USA, Shaun Thomas from Aberdeen and finally Ewan Massie from Fraserburgh, Aberdeenshire, Scotland.
This event was part of the Donald Dinnie Games, The Gathering III, held at Potarch on the Ballogie Estate in Aberdeenshire, Scotland in August 2019. The Dinnie Stones are a pair of Scottish granite lifting stones , with iron rings affixed. They were made famous by strongman Donald Dinnie, who carried the stones barehanded across the width of the Potarch Bridge, a distance of 17 ft 1.5 in 1860. They remain in use as lifting stones and have a combined weight of 332.49 kilograms (733.0 lbs), with the larger stone weighing 188.02 kilograms (414.5 lbs) and the smaller stone weighing 144.47 kilograms (318.5 lbs).
