The Director General of the National AIDS Control Organisation (NACO), Dr. Rakesh Gupta, has emphasized the need for a clear district-wise strategy to control the spread of HIV within a targeted timeframe.

As part of the Mission AIDS Suraksha initiative, a state-level workshop was held in Vijayawada to strengthen prevention and control measures. Officials highlighted that HIV cases are concentrated in around 18 states across the country, with Andhra Pradesh reportedly ranking among the higher-burden regions.
