Bapatla Collector Set to Announce Final Decision on Pastor's SC Certificate Controversy

The Bapatla district collector is expected to announce a final decision regarding the SC certificate dispute involving Pastor Chintada Anand from Pittalavanipaleni. The controversy began when Akkala RamiReddy from Kottapaleni filed a complaint with district authorities, demanding cancellation of Pastor Anand's SC certificate on the grounds that he practices Christianity. A District Scrutiny Committee led by a Joint Collector conducted hearings, listened to arguments from both sides, and recommended to the collector that Anand's SC certificate be revoked due to his conversion to Christianity. Following the committee's report, Collector Vinod Kumar issued a show-cause notice to Anand, after which the pastor submitted a written explanation along with 100 pages of supporting documents during the final hearing held on the 19th of this month. After reviewing the submitted documents and consulting legal experts, the collector is now expected to deliver the final verdict on Saturday, taking into account a recent Supreme Court ruling and constitutional provisions.
