Steam in the North-Midlands during the 1950s The Enefer Collection.
I acquired a collection of photographs taken by Michael Enefer of Sale, Greater Manchester, around 1957/58 of mainline steam trains. Most of the locos being 'namers' and appear around the Manchester, York, Leeds and parts of Derbyshire areas. I scanned and slightly retouched the almost pristine 35mm negatives and compiled this video with suitable descriptions of the locos and locations. I was helped in this identification task by Bob Hart, a friend who drove similar locos when he was a driver attached to Stoke Shed.
As you will be aware, these were taken about 10 years before the end of steam and some of them may be the only photos in existence of certain locos. I hope you enjoy looking at them and if you wish to add any further info to any please do so either in the comments section or by direct e-mail as shown in the video.
Since finalising this slideshow I have discovered some more photos-only (no negs) from the same collection. I will eventually put these up in a new video as 'Part Two' of the collection.
