Why 친구 is NOT the same as "friend" in English

Learning Korean isn't just about memorizing vocabulary. There are a number of words that, just like 친구 and friend, may overlap in meaning, but the actual usage and implied meaning of the words are very very different. As Korean learners, we learn these as we go along and by learning to detach from words and concepts, we find the space in between. A place with no definitions. Quite worth finding, if you ask me!
