Suffering, Resistance and Freedom: A Postcolonial Dalit Study of Isaiah

In this lecture, Rev. Selva Rathinam, S.J., one of the International Visiting Jesuit Fellows at Holy Cross in 2023, applies concepts of the postcolonial method to interpret the text of the last Servant Song from the point of view of the Dalits, the oppressed people of India’s lowest caste. A scholar of Hebrew prophets, Fr. Rathinam is professor and past president of Jnana-Deepa Vidyapeeth (JDV) Pontifical Athenaeum of Philosophy and Theology in Pune, India.
