Joseph McCartin '81 on the 21st Century Labor Question

In the last 50 years, the deterioration of worker organization has contributed to a deterioration of democracy and deepening partisan polarization, which in turn have further weakened workers' rights. In this talk, labor expert Joseph McCartin ‘81, Holy Cross alumnus and professor of history and executive director of the Kalmanovitz Initiative for Labor and the Working Poor at Georgetown University, traces the rise and fall of both democratic and workers' rights over the 20th century and explains how Catholic social teaching may be able to help point the way forward.

The lecture, held Oct. 18, 2022, was sponsored by the McFarland Center for Religion, Ethics and Culture at Holy Cross. Visit http://holycross.edu/mcfarlandcenter for more.
