The start of lambing

The first few lambs were born over the weekend! I tidied up the sheep shed and checked all the ewes. One of the ewes looked like she was going to lamb soon so I moved her into a pen. 20 minutes later she gave birth to twins.

I refilled the trailer with feed for the ewes and fed the ones in the main sheep shed. After feeding silage to the ewes I fed all the cows and calves. I also got two loads of hay for the tups and calves.

Back to the sheep shed- there is already a ewe who is not letting her lambs drink so I helped the lambs get a drink. The sign that they are getting milk is when they wag their tales.

The job for the afternoon was getting the other sheep shed ready for bringing in some of the outdoor ewes. This involved moving about all the gates and barriers to make two sides, and also some lambing pens. Once this was done fresh straw was put down everywhere.
