It is not entirely certain where and when the Vermeer made this recording. It was one of a number of unlabeled cassettes that was found in a dust-covered cardboard box that hadn’t been opened in years. Most likely, it had been mailed to the Vermeer by the TELDEC producers for comments prior to the final editing and mastering of their middle-Beethoven CDs. If that’s the case, it was recorded in Berlin in May of 1989.
