The Battle of Artemisium (480 BCE)

On the same day the Persian army battled the greek army at Thermopylae, The Greek and Persian Naval fleets were also engaged in battle at Artemisium. The Greek navy had one major objective, they had to stop the Persian navy from assisting the army in getting around the pass at Thermopylae. There was one problem! The Persian navy consisted of over a thousand triremes while the greeks only had 200!
