South Dakota, Nebraska

Anders and I took a huge road trip last month to reach the highest points in a handful of states.

Along the way we found some fun and interesting places to stop and explore.

Here are a few of them between Nebraska and South Dakota’s high points:

𝐒𝐜𝐨𝐭𝐭’𝐬 𝐁𝐥𝐮𝐟𝐟 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐮𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 - Towering 800 feet above the North Platte River, Scotts Bluff has served as a landmark for peoples from Native Americans to emigrants on the Oregon, California and Mormon Trails to modern travelers.

𝐀𝐠𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐅𝐨𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐥 𝐁𝐞𝐝𝐬 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐮𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 - Fossils of Miocene age mammals and Lakota heritage and history.

𝐖𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐤 - Below the remnant island of intact prairie sits Wind Cave, one of the longest and most complex caves in the world.

There were several other places that caught our attention, but alas, there is only so much one can do in one day.
